Course description:

This qualification is designed to develop your knowledge of coaching and mentoring skills. The course structure gives the opportunity for the learner to also improve their own skills and develop an understanding of the skills and knowledge required for coaching and mentoring. This is a course for supervisors and first line managers, to support the development of coaching and mentoring skills and techniques of individuals, teams and achieve objectives.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is ideal for anyone with an interest and/or some involvement in working in the role of a supervisor or as a first line manager. It is also for learners who wish to develop their understanding of the subject area or related subjects such as leadership and management or those in a support role.

Entry requirements:

To undertake this course, it is ideal If you have a Level 2 qualification or an equivalent qualification at this level. You will also need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials.

How is the course delivered?

Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. You will be sent learning materials. You will be required to produce project information in order to meet the assessment requirements for the course. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. This course is available online only. Learners should complete the course within 8 weeks.

The course will cover the following areas:

  • Unit 1- Principles, skills and impact of coaching and mentoring
  • Unit 2 – Coaching and mentoring processes

Progression opportunities:

The qualification aims to provide a sound preparation for further study and access to a range of vocational qualifications, including Level 3 in Leadership and Management and Level 3 in Project Management.
