Data protection compliance is an essential legal requirement for all organisations. Since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force, it is essential that everyone who works with personal data understands this legislation and acts in compliance. This qualification will allow learners to demonstrate an understanding of data protection and data security and is designed for those who wish to improve their knowledge of data protection and data security.

Entry requirements:
You do not need to have any formal qualifications in order to follow this course, but you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials. The learner must live in England and be over 19 years of age.
How is the course delivered?
Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practice their skills and test their learning. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. Learners should complete the course within 12 weeks.
Course content:
The course will cover the following areas and consists of two modules:
- Current data protection legislation and how it is applied.
- Organisational procedures concerning data.
- Possible threats to ICT systems and data, and how to protect against them.
- Consequences of not protecting data, and the impact of possible breaches.
