Course description:

This course will further learners’ knowledge in the health and social care sector, the roles and career paths within the sector and the main aims, knowledge and ideas underpinning the provision of health and social care. This should support learners in identifying their interests within the sector to support their progression to further training or qualifications, and/or into employment.

This course will give learners the opportunity to explore the structure of the sector and how it provides health and social care services along with the principles and values which underpin work in the sector. It will give learners an understanding of the need for health and social care provision over the human life span and the knowledge and skills to choose and move forward towards a health and social care job role. Learners will also gain personal development skills which are essential for success in professional practice.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course will support learners in identifying their interests within the sector to support their progression to further training or qualifications, and/or into employment. It is also suitable for those who are either working in the care field.

Entry requirements:

Learners should have the necessary foundations to undertake the programme of study at level 3. This should include related level 2 subjects and/or a foundation of formal qualifications such as appropriate Level 2 standard in English, so you can access resources and complete the unit assignments. You will also need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials. Learners will be required to carry out work experience as part of the course programme. As part of the entry requirements learners will be required to complete the initial assessment for digital skills and assignment writing.

How is the course delivered?

Candidates work through the course materials for the programme through distance learning, therefore, there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The course is delivered using different methods to meet the learning objectives. This can include written assignments and practical skills-based activities.
