Course description:
The course will help you understand the concepts of health and wellbeing. It will also enable you to understand nutrition for exercise and how to measure personal fitness levels.
The course has a credit value of 15 on the Qualifications Credit Framework.

This course is ideal for people who are interested in improving their understanding of diet and nutrition for exercise. It will be particularly useful to those who work in an environment where an understanding of nutrition and health is relevant, such as sport and recreation or healthcare.
Entry requirements:
You do not need to have any formal qualifications in order to follow this course, but you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials.
How is the course delivered?
Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practice their skills and test their learning. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. The course should be completed within 12 weeks.
Course content:
The course will cover the following areas and consists of 3 modules:
- Workbook 1: Understand health, wellbeing and exercise.
- Workbook 2: Understand the role of nutrition in exercise.
- Workbook 3: Plan and prepare for personal exercise and nutrition.

Having completed this course, learners may wish to consider further study in diet and nutrition, or within the wider area of healthcare, or fitness. Alternatively, they may wish to consider qualifications around catering, food science or sport and exercise.
