Course description:

The NCFE Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice provides you with the knowledge and skills to lead a team of internal quality assurance staff who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre.

The qualification provides recognition of your knowledge and competence of leading the internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practices. You may already be employed as an internal quality assurer or in a supervisory role for a training provider, FE college or internal training department, or looking to progress to leading a team of quality assurers. You could be working in a variety of sectors.

Who is the course suitable for?

Learners must be employed within an internal quality assurance role linked to qualification delivery that will enable them to evidence the requirements of the qualification. Learners should also possess communication skills sufficient to allow them to address the assessment requirements of the qualification.

Entry requirements:

There are no formal or other nationally agreed entry requirements although an initial assessment to cover the minimum core of literacy, numeracy and ICT will be part of the initial assessment. The learner must live in England and be over 19 years of age.

How is the course delivered?

Candidates work through an online platform, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. You will be guided to obtain the resources that contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and you can also gain further knowledge through research.

There is also a requirement for you to develop your practical skills and there is a requirement to undertake observed and assessed practice in a real work environment. Assessments are based on knowledge and skills. Learners should complete the course within 6 – 9 months.

Course content:

You will need to complete 3 mandatory units to achieve this qualification:

  • To assess performance in assuring the quality of assessment from outside an organisation or assessment centre, usually on behalf of an awarding organisation
