Course description:
This qualification covers a range of topics including understanding the concept and benefits of working in a lean environment and the benefits it can make in improving quality and your efficiency in the work place. You will gain an understanding of the tools and techniques required for implementing business improvements and how to work effectively in a business team. The course will also broaden your awareness of how to become a more effective team player at work.

This course is appropriate for a wide range of learners and will provide a learner with knowledge and understanding to support the learner in either finding a new job or enhance their performance in their current role, learn new skills to fulfil a personal learning goal.

You do not need to have any formal qualifications in order to follow this course, but you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials.
How is the course delivered?
Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course and activities to allow candidates to practice their skills and test their learning. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme and work-based activities and experience. Learners should aim to complete the course within 12 weeks.

The course will cover the following:
- Lean organisation techniques in business: Productivity needs analysis. Be able to produce a process map
- Business improvement tools and techniques: Understand the principles and techniques of workplace organisation. Be able to use visual indicators to improve the work environment. Know ways to eliminate variance from processes in the workplace.
- Working in Business Teams: Understand what makes an effective team. Be able to work effectively in a team. Understand the role of team leader.

The qualification aims to provide a sound preparation for further study and access to a range of vocational qualifications including Level 3 Diploma in Management, Level 3 Diploma in Leadership & Management, and Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Business Administration.
