Course description:

As a learner on this qualification, you will develop a range of skills and knowledge required to help you begin a career in management – the course includes three units as the basis for the management role such as managing your own self development; the responsibilities of a manager as well as supporting teams and objective setting with team members. 

Who is the course suitable for?

This qualification is for those learners who want to develop the essential knowledge and understanding required for supervisory or management roles

Entry requirements:

You do not need to have any formal qualifications in order to follow this course, but you will need to demonstrate commitment and motivation to work through the specially prepared distance-learning materials.  The qualification can be offered to learners from age 19.

How is the course delivered?

Candidates work through the course materials for the programme at times convenient to them, so there is no need to attend the college to gain the qualification. The learning materials contain the knowledge needed to meet the assessment requirements of the course activities to allow candidates to practice their skills and test their learning. Assessments are based on a combination of knowledge and skills learned on the programme.

Learners should aim to complete the course within 12 weeks.

Course content:

To gain this qualification, learners must attain 13 credits. All 13 credits must be achieved from the three mandatory units contained in Group A:

H/602/1288 Responsibilities as a manager

K/602/1292 Objective setting and communicating to support teams

R/602/1285 Managing self development

Progression opportunities:

The qualification provides opportunities for progression to other qualifications at the same or higher levels, which could also be work-based or more academically structured. The qualification also supports learners in meeting the requirements for work and/or employment within all areas of management and leadership at this level.
